Model 1911A1 may be the most modified handgun in the world. They include beavertail safety grip, slotted Commander-style hammer, relief cut under the trigger guard, beveled magazine well, slightly longer trigger, flat top rib and angled slide serrations. Colt chose some of the most popular modifications to perform on their new enhanced models. These modifications are the result of Colt's desire to meet the shooters demand for a more "customized" pistol. Included were Government models, Commander, Officer's, Gold Cup and Combat Elite. Beginning of 1992 another change was made to Model 1911A1 in the form of an enhanced pistol. In 1983, Colt introduced Series 80 models, which had an additional passive firing pin safety lock. Modifications in the new model were slightly heavier slide and slotted collet barrel bushing. Model 1911A1 was manufactured by Colt until 1971, when the Series 70 Government Model superseded it. ? #COLT DELTA ELITE GOLD CUP NATIONAL MATCH MODS#
The Rail Gun is a more logical starter 1911,though.Īs I mention in the post, the Gold Trophy is a great all round gun with some competition mods that I personally like. Again, it’s almost down to the price and how we feel at the time. There the Colt Gold Trophy came out on top. I might adapt this post, or this might just be a special offer that isn’t there long, but I also have this post on $2000 1911s you might like to read. I think this makes sense, the DW will be the third or fourth gun you buy, and I love the Bruin, but start with the best of the staples! The SA TRP is a fantastic thing a well, but it would still be behind that Kimber that you can find winning this post. You can’t go wrong with a Colt Combat Rail Unit or a Colt Gold Trophy either for a dependable gun.ĭan Wessons are fantastic, but the Kimber or Colts would be my top two for a dependable, first pistol. That, to me, gives it the win, but it’s tight. The Kimber Royal Combat II is on sale at $1,699 on Euro Optic. Funny you should ask that question, I have just found a new answer myself.
